Bebop Korean-Mexican Grill, Haymarket VA

Had the pleasure of shooting Bebop grill the other day, and aside from the absolutely miserable commute to and from there that was courtesy of a sprinkle of rain and the usual awful driving in DMV, the shoot went very smoothly.

Bebop is a modern Asian-Latin fusion spot that’s also halal – a definitely curious detail to see that typically reflects in the menu pricing, but did the food hold up to this standard?

The short answer is an overwhelming “yes!” You don’t typically see this kind of fusion despite it working very, very well since majority of Korean spots around want to present more authentic style of cuisine instead of bulgogi burgers, but man are those burgers a fantastic idea! Properly done cheesesteaks belong on any menu that sports other sandwiches, and mixing in that gochujang flavor only gives them more points for breaking the typical monotony of onions and cheese. Loaded fries, that are fully loaded? You got it! Mexican or Korean styled tacos? Done. At this point, you can’t forget the classic finger food stable of wings, though proper Korean fried chicken does have Bebop’s American approach beat.

Top all of that off with your proper selection of drinks like various “boba” and jelly teas, as well as mangonadas!

Chefs and managers here were fantastic and made for very smooth experience for the end of lunch rush on top of accommodating making a slew of plates for my photo shoot, which was a cherry on top.

Assuming other locations hold up to the brand’s standard – I can honestly recommend checking this place out, especially all the way in Haymarket to experience some flavor variety.
