Gah Rham Korean, Beltsville MD
Gah Rham was another pleasant and kind of random Korean spot along Route 1 in Beltsville, MD, that I would have never guessed was there. The food was excellent and the vibe was nice and chill compared to many K-BBQ spots that are full of grill smoke and loud banter.
Tosokchon, Annandale VA
Another nice Korean spot in our Korea-town that’s right behind Shilla Bakery which I know and love for well over a decade. Food here is right on point.
Gangnam Hot-Dog, H-Mart, Fairfax VA
Gangnam Hot Dog was another of several food court spots I got to shoot inside the H-Mart at 11200 Fairfax Blvd, Fairfax, VA 22030. This spot has every-which-way Korean style hot dogs and fried appz and these are absolutely worth a try if you’ve never had a cheesy, potato covered, fried corn dog before.
Young Dabang, H-Mart, Fairfax VA
Young Dabang was one of several food court spots I got to shoot inside the H-Mart at 11200 Fairfax Blvd, Fairfax, VA 22030. This spot had proper, big, Korean dishes and generous portions to make sure you left nice and full of flavor!
Artistic Chicken Sandwich – Chi MC Korean Fried Chicken, Vienna VA
Located at 126-B Branch Rd SE, Vienna, VA 22180, Chi MC Korean Fried Chicken could be easily confused with Choong-Man Chicken, but this is a smaller spot with their own unique and plentiful of a menu to bite into. Plenty of appetizers, Absolutely proper Korean mains as well, One of the BEST fried chicken sandwiches…
DosiRock, Lexington Market Balmore MD – Bibimbap Your Way
DosiRock was a nice shoot in your typical, zero work room for a shoot, market section setup, and at the very least everything looked really good! All hands were on deck and all the items came out in a good and timely manner, so my only complaint with this one was having to sit for…
BengBeng Chicken & Grill, Tysons Corner VA – Mall Food Court
This was a smooth shoot of your standard mall food court Asian spot that has a decent variety of food.
Pelicana, Annandale VA
This shoot coincided with my spontaneous trip to Boston, literally right afterwards, but what I would never-ever imagine in my life is that a place with a pretty oceanic name of a fishing avian would serve anything but the implied fish! This was one of my earlier encounters with Korean fried chicken and let me…
Choong Man Chicken, Columbia Heights Washington DC – story
CM Chicken, for short, I’ve shot a couple of times and this particular one was when they had briefly taken over the The Heights Tap Room (that bounced around being American Tap Room as well) setup smack in the middle of Columbia Heights, DC. Funny enough, I’ve shot Choong Man Chicken before at their old…
Rateba Grill & Ramen, Fairfax VA – Awesome Ramen Fusion
Rateba was a cute little Japanese and Korean spot right by the Fairfax Micro Center and the food here did not disappoint at all!
Mr. Sushi Mrs. Roll, Landsdowne VA
Mr. Sushi Mrs. Roll was a smooth shoot at a lovely Japanese spot with some Korean menu influence and used to sport 2 locations back in the day. Nice owners, cozy decor, and overall good food filled this place.
Hot Spot, Chantilly VA – A Roomy Q
Hot spot was a nice little break from the typical Korean bbq – a Korean hot pot idea that follows the recent hot pot trend all around this area. Good looking cuts of meat, plenty of extra toppings, and kitchen-cooked dishes like fried rice and stir fry. Since I was covering takeout part of things,…
Kogiya Korean BBQ, Annandale VA – Random Awesome Find
Kogiya was a lunch with a friend after doing some non-culinary picture work, but why not shoot some footage for the blog while I have my gear with me, right? This was a nice spot and a better quality than the all-you-can-eat spots that on average use worse grades of meat to compensate for volume.
Moa Korean, Rockville MD – story
Moa was a very cool gig because owner and head chef were very excited to have pro coverage of their fantastic dishes. I got some soju to pass the time as the head chef was doing his culinary magic and all of the staff sat down to take care of the props after the shoot.…
Myoung Dong Restaurant, Beltsville MD
Myoung Dong is a very nice and quiet, almost hidden Korean restaurant right off of Route 1 in Beltsville, MD close to Costco. Food is superb here, so I highly recommend checking them out if you’re tired of Honey Pig. These shoots always go smoothly because Koreans and Thai both know the real value of…
