Elena James All Day, Chevy Chase MD
What a fantastic discovery was Elena James All Day! Weather and parking odds were stacked against me this day, and arriving way too early got me to peruse a nearby Amazon Fresh’s ice-cold AC as well as peruse some of their grocery pricing along with my friend in tow while we waited for my appointment…

Atwater’s, Catonsville MD
Atwater’s is a local cafe chain and back in the day I got to shoot the Catonsville location to much success. It’s always great to see good local cafes and delis branch out without getting too big to keep their consistency, and Atwater’s nails this aspect much like another Baltimore area local – Attman’s.

Again, and Again, and again – 1600 Kitchen, Tysons Corner VA
Seems like 1600 Kitchen is potentially temporarily closed at the moment, but boy have I shot there a LOT. This was perhaps the single place I’ve been back to the most in my entire career and I’ve seen them go through menu changes, possibly management change, and was received differently almost every time. This cafe…

Arirang Hill Cary Out, Columbia MD
Arirang Hill Cary Out was a surprisingly solid little carryout despite the stigma that these kinds of places have in my book after doing one thousand too many and generally seeing far too few in between that are good. Reviews for Arirang do not lie! The nice added bonus is some Korean flavor added to…

Vini Culture Wine Bar, Frederick MD – closed
Vini was my last stop after a LONG day traveling far and wide, and it was a cute wine spot that did some bites with a relaxed chic atmosphere. Seeing how they’re no longer in business today I’m not terribly surprised since they were along the lines of a froufrou cupcake shop on the outskirt…

Clever Place – America’s Best Pizza And Wings, MD
America’s Best Pizza And Wings did a clever and common marketing tactic with their business name like many others; however, trying to tag onto searches for America’s Best Wings is NOT something I would personally want to do, ever. The real irony with this place was that they were actual eons above and beyond most…

Perfectly Crispy – Empanadas De Mendoza, Lorton VA
This was a real treat of a shoot despite being borderline middle of nowhere at 8534A Terminal Rd, Lorton, VA 22079, in the middle of an industrial town, but maaaaan was this worth it! They had mean sandwiches – Proper slaw that wasn’t bleached in that awkward sweet and runny sauce as well as awesome…

Creative Grounds, Washington DC
Creative Grounds I’ve shot twice, and it’s a very cozy little coffee shop that offers nice cafe fare as well. Some savory offerings, Some straight-up sweet offerings, And of course the drinks! I definitely recommend checking this place out if you’re around North Capitol Street and S Street NW not far from Rhode Island Ave.

Polka Deli, Silver Spring MD
Polka was a smooth and lovely shoot of a relatively rare, Polish deli and mini-market right next to the late Pollo-Mex in Colesville Center right towards the very north part of Silver Spring. Pork schnitzel subs, kielbasa and other eastern European hot and cold cuts in abundance here.

Subway, Chinatown Washington DC
Won’t name the exact location, but THIS was one of my first times shooting a Subway location and you can clearly see how much that location cared about their food’s appearance on a brand new online platform….but I’m sure this is of no surprise for anyone reading.

Ari’s Diner, Ivy City Washington DC
Ari’s, Puerta Verde, and Via Ghibellina were 3 restaurants located literally on 2 corners of the same block of Fenwick street, right down the road from Union Kitchen Food Accelerator (communal kitchen space) and part of the same restaurant group that I got to cover in the same day – and that kind of cash…

Quincy’s Bar and Grille, Gaithersburg MD
My second locations of Quincy’s, this time the one in Quince Orchard area – same good old local bar and grill! Nice American vibe with all the usual fare at any one of their locations and you really can’t go wrong here.

Clear Skies Meadery, Gaithersburg and Rockville MD
Clear Skies was a shoot that ironically ended up getting snowed in a couple of times, and was at their Kentlands location as opposed to the main one off of East Gude dr. The smaller boutique location still had all of their amazing mead and lots of small plates and sandwiches as munching options.

Woodmont Deli, Bethesda MD
It was a happy day when I finally got to shoot this absolute mom and pop gem, the Woodmont avenue Deli in Bethesda. Their menu is solid, atmosphere cozy, and owners ever so lovely.

Hops and Shine, Alexandria VA
Hops ‘n’ Shine was a smooth gig at a little bar in Alexandria with some really great looking and tasting sandwiches!
