Irish-Latin Fusion – Sully’s Pour House, Herndon VA
Sully’s Pour House was definitely a memorable shoot because this was the first time I’ve seen Irish and Latin cuisine intertwine properly without taking too many American detours typical for a bar menu. And one of the very few times I was presented some Xangos as a dessert over typical churros or tres leches.

La Mexicana, Germantown MD
La Mexicana was a cozy Mexican spot in Germantown and they were excited to get some proper shots of their authentic dishes, so I delivered right on point. Their interior is lovely as well as cozy- Definitely the spot to check out if you want a calmer setting than other fiesta loca kind of places.

El Rey Tolteca, Ashburn VA – moved to Manassas
Used to be in Ashburn Village Center and definitely added some festive colors to this plaza, but have since moved quite a bit further south into Manassas, VA. Easy-peasy shoot like majority of Mexican spots with colorful and flavorful fare as well as the overall decor.

El Palenque Bar & Grill, Winchester VA – closed
El Palenque was another fun shoot that I did abysmally far, far away that was a great spot with really good authentic Mexican fare, but has been replaced by another Mexican spot since. Ironically I see that quite often and it always makes me wonder how much of a difference in management and staff there…

Texas Parillada, Gaithersburg MD – moved to Oxon Hill MD
Another sad day yesterday seeing that Texas Parillada shut down in favor of some new Mexican place over in Lakeforest Mall area, off of Lost Knife road, at the same plaza as H-Mart and now another Hook & Reel location. The very first place I shot here was now-gone Wok Express Restaurant that served their…

Ay! Jalisco Restaurant, Gaithersburg MD
This was a nice Tex-Mex shoot not too far from home base for a change, and the spread did not disappoint one bit! Proper Mexican dishes, pupusas, and a shrimp cocktail served in a margarita glass that I don’t see too often!

Bar J Chili Parlor, Occoquan Historic District, VA
Bar J Chili Parlor was a pleasant end to one of my past BUSY days and I gotta give them credit for fusing Tex-Mex and some southern bbq ideas together as well as things like the chili spaghetti they call mac. The place itself was cozy and spacious – perfect for a happy hour with…

Taco Bravo, Timonium MD – Better A Little Late Than Never
As usual, my email about possibly bumping this gig went into the abyss and their friendly staff hadn’t a clue about the shoot while the manager stepped out for an errand. Very well, nothing a drink won’t fix while I wait 5-10 minutes, and I’ve had far worse waits before. 15-20 later though, manager went…

Él Bebe, Washington DC – Tequila!
Él Bebe was a super-quick shoot since I was sent here on a combo shoot with Circa right next door and having negotiated everything to the GM – the kitchen was almost ahead of my pace and that made me a very happy shooter! Food here is absolutely on point as well. The food was…

Haydee’s Restaurant, Mt Pleasant Washington DC – Very, Very Good!
Haydees was an absolutely fantastic spot with a real Mexican cantina feel unlike majority of similar restaurants around this town that chose to modernize their vibes instead of keeping things festive. The cool part was that I shot Haydees during the era of the Aholezone trying to offer restaurant delivery and failing absolutely miserably in…

Senor Tequilas, Germantown MD
Senor Tequilas is a nice and fancy, small local chain and for this shoot I had to wait for their hired photog to arrive and “oversee” my already cookie-cutter process that I had no power over. That aside, these spots are awesome for happy hours and the food.

Don Ramon, Silver Spring MD
Don Ramon is a nice Mexican restaurant and bar located at the northern tip of Silver Spring, MD, right off of Columbia Pike. Nice and easy shoot this one.

Tropicana Majahual Restaurant, Takoma Park MD
Tropicana Majahual is a nice little Salvadorian restaurant hidden on Flower Avenue in Takoma Park, MD. Excellent authentic dishes including amazing seafood soup, red snapper as their pescado frito, and an excellent ceviche! I highly recommend checking them out if you’re in the area. Very pleasant shoot and awesome looking and tasting food.
-

El Gran Chaparral, New Carrollton MD
El Gran Chaparral is not only a superb authentic Mexican restaurant right under the inner loop of 495, but also a spacious pool hall. They definitely have some of the better eats and drinks you can get while playing pool in all of the DC area. I highly recommend checking Gran Chaparral out! If you’ve…
