Donahue, Georgetown, Washington DC
Donahue was a swanky tapas place right on Wisconsin Ave in Georgetown of this town. Interior was posh, portions small as all “fine dining” places go that I personally will never understand, and all of the staff was most excellent and on point. And the food before me was as follows –
Fully Loaded Heros – Capo Italian Deli, Tyson’s Corner VA
Capo Deli was a pleasant surprise to shoot considering that delis are fairly rare in the DMV, let alone those that properly mirror those of NY, and Capo seems to nail the idea! A quote from them directly, “Reminiscent of the old school, traditional Italian deli’s found in NY, Philly, and Boston… No gimmicks, no…
The Grill at Harryman House, Reisterstown MD
The Grill at Harryman House was a pleasure to shoot and it combines that older town charm with modern touches and fantastic plates to boot! I always enjoy when the staff and managers care about their venue because so many don’t seem to, and those tend to fail over the years. This was also my…
Supano’s Restaurant, Baltimore MD – story
Supano’s was one of my early gigs and I dragged a friend along to be my “assistant” and observe this wonderless world of corpo food shooting, and to that effect this gig did not disappoint! It was scheduled during the dead hours of the afternoon, but that didn’t stop the kitchen from being horribly sluggish…
Nicoletta Italian Kitchen, Washington DC
Nicoletta Italian Kitchen was a fantastic shoot just like their sister, pizza-focused spot not terribly far from the restaurant location. Proper Italian spot with really good food and excellent atmosphere is somewhat rare to see in DC.
Vasil’s Kitchen, Gaithersburg MD
Very, very cool spots in Kentlands with great staff, decor, and classic Greej plates. Vasil’s is definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area and are in the mood for this kinda cuisine and a roomy bar. Very smooth shoot.
District Dumpling, Fairfax VA
This was a neat little shoot of a quaint Chinese dumpling and noodle spot.
Firenza, Alexandria VA
Firenza is a creative pizzeria located in the Manchester Lakes shopping center in Alexandria VA. Excellent, gourmet pizzas, wings, and sides can be had here. Very smooth shoot and some very, very pretty pies!
Azitouna Pizza, Washington DC – Story
Azitouna Pizza is a solid takeout spot off of Martin Luther King Jr Avenue in Southeast DC. Their footlong subs are 12 inches long and large pizzas are bigger than most due to being cut in 16 slices instead of 8! The food is great though. The stats from the owner’s mouth himself as he…
Nido (closed), Washington DC
Nido was a neat little spot on the edge of NE of DC with Spanish and Italian fusion of dishes, but has shut down and the lease was actually passed onto an Asian crew of new owners who started Momo Yakitori with Hawaiian inspired fare. Both spots were excellent to shoot and I was glad…
Italian Kitchen, Silver Spring MD
Italian Kitchen is a nice Italian place downtown Silver Spring with good selection of pizza, pasta, apps, wings, and more. Straight foward shoot when I started getting more gigs downtown Silver Spring, and naturally a complete parking nightmare.
Pizza Bolis, (Motter Ave) Frederick MD – A Golden Standard
We all definitely know, and then either love or hate Pizza Bolis since every location is always different given it is another franchise with a pretty loaded menu of baked and fried goods besides the main extensive pizza selection. This particular location off Motter Ave not far from i15, however, has been a very pleasant…
Osteria Morini, Washington DC
Osteria Morini is an excellent Northern Italian eatery by chef Micheal White right by Nationals Stadium and on the bank of Anacostia River in SE DC. Black pasta, parmigiana cheese by the boat load on most dishes, and very classy atmosphere and decor make this restaurant well worth visiting. Highly recommended, as long as they…
