Parlay’s Replacement – Blue Moon, Dupont Circle DC

It’s been eons since I’ve been down on M street NW in DC, and last place I shot here from what I recall was Bub and Pops, but this post is about a new hookah lounge called Blue Moon DC. Not to be confused with Baltimore’s Blue Moon Cafe, which is an excellent spot in its own right. The interior remains the same old, same old Parlay vibe –

According to the bartender I was chatting with while waiting for the food, this place opened a year and a half ago, but had recently changed management for the better. This notion took our conversation exactly in the management direction and how often we both have seen decent places flop badly solely due to sloppy management, and he was glad this was taken cared of here instead of facing the inevitable demise. Both of us marveled at the fact that Sign of the Whale next door remained there for well over a decade for some reason or another and how it always manages to be jam packed almost every night. Hookahs will definitely be a solid selling point for Blue Moon and the atmosphere is just right for that vibe here.

Food menu was apparently under an update as well, which is usually a good sign, and here’s the modern pub grub you can expect to find here-

And the simple dishes were solid, which really makes or breaks almost any bar in Dupont area and its general lack of pure dives that are all up 18th towards Adam’s Morgan.

I recommend stopping by here and giving them a try, especially after they finalize their new menu which should be within the next week or two!
