Now this ended up being quite the adventure….in a very good way! I had Rocky’s Pizza shoot following 2 other shoots that both ended up rescheduling (a sad, “yay” more than anything since corpos barely even cover cancellations anymore) that day; however, Rocky’s played ball and were perfectly fine bumping this shoot up a couple hours to save me wasting time on the side of the road staring at clouds and traffic, so I took off on this scenic hour and a half kind of detour.
My ongoing theory with places tucked far, far away in proverbial middles of nowhere is as follows – either the food is superb, with such restaurants being pillars of their areas, or the food is garbage and the local population’s taste buds are as sophisticated as the area as a whole. So, which of the two was Rocky’s?
Lets start with a clean, spacious interior that accommodates plenty of dining guests as well as provides ample space for those waiting for takeout. Nice, modern look to the place without the over-played red checkerboard table covers or white table cloths akin to fancier Italian places. This feels cozy and casual, and I much prefer this kind of atmosphere.

Now for the food! The menu is massive, and this can always be hit-or-miss when it comes to chefs having to deal with too many ingredients, or having literally everything for everyone. Rocky’s Pizza nails the big menu with amazing offerings that taste as good as they look!

Next up were couple pastas and sandwiches, and don’t let the looks of the Italian fool you here! Meatballs were the star of the show here, next to the special cheese steak,

Pizzas could rival New York for overall quality – perfect, thin-enough dough and fresh toppings cooked to perfection. Square Sicilian pies were also on-deck here with the pepperoni I saw loaded to the crust.

Stromboli and calzones were crispy and juicy,

And naturally, plenty of cannoli and other desserts.

And staff at Spring Mills Rocky’s Pizza was even better than the already awesome food! Overall, if you’re ever trodding along I-81 and want to get an amazing slice of pizza, or to put your gas pedal foot up for a bit and avoid being in your typical hustle-and-bustle pile of chain restaurants – definitely check out Rocky’s Pizza. They are off of Exit 20 and tucked a few lights away from the chaos of Walmart, whose presence in itself is convenient for resupplying when traveling.
