Mirchi is a brand new iteration of a giant space at 1660 Whitehead Ct, Baltimore, MD 21207, attached to the Red Roof Inn building that managed to operate separately and despite The View American sitting right next door. The previous iteration was Paradise Fine Dine, Grill, Bar and Banquet that was also an Indian fine dining kind of place.

If you’d like to see a quick clip, here is mine from Google Maps – https://maps.app.goo.gl/RSCmkKeV7zcGs9Ce7
Currently, the banquet room itself is under heavy and rapid renovations, but the main dining area can absolutely handle a large event with ease, so it will be great to see what the new ownership does once everything is ready.
The food? The food checked out with some interesting and notable unique takes I haven’t seen before, like a tandoori Branzino! I will always give kudos to any place that uses proper fish in the ocean of restaurants that use either boring, standard fish like salmon or tilapia. Another thing of note here, were a couple menu items with Pomfret – another aquatic meat I just don’t typically see on menus.

Another couple things of note that I got to shoot was a variation on chili chicken/chicken 65 – the chicken Kondat(t)am, that they spelled without the extra “t”.

Followed by peanut masala, that I want to say was my first time seeing, and the relatively uncommon chicken lollipops you’d typically see at vegan spots made of soy mush that very few places manage to do right, but not here – it’s proper, tandoori chicken drummets alright! And the cutlets/croquettes that are always nice to see alongside samosas since they typically feature much more diverse fillings.

Rest of the menu is pretty standard for an Indian spot with the usual favorites,

This shoot was abysmally slow, but good food takes time to cook and that held true since I DID get to try quite a few of the dishes. Scheduling the shoot at 5pm on the other hand, with heavy rush hour traffic – will never be my idea of vacation when it comes to these corpo shoots. This was after the restaurant’s mid-day break, but I don’t see why we couldn’t have done the shoot right after the lunch rush and before the break.
At any small rant, Mirchi had great atmosphere and fantastic food and can definitely use more patronage for dinner hours since I only saw but a handful of people by 7pm.
