Heed Reviews – Anthony’s Anchors Aweigh Restaurant, Beltway Motel, Halethrope MD

Just look at those Maryland blue crabs! Hefty helping of Old Bay, nice and red – a plate full!

And look at this spaghetti and meatballs with nice parmigiana bread to go with it!

Shrimp salad, cheesesteak, crab cake plate – all look well above and beyond what the reviews started to shower this place well after I got to shoot it. It has long since shut down same as when it opened – changing the name from the previous Italian spot for reasons unknown to me. Perhaps I got a bit of a special treatment when I was here as the overwhelming amount of the reviews seem to say otherwise and here comes my warning to everyone:

When you’re searching for places to eat, the images alone can be very deceiving since people like myself are (typically) paid quite well to sell you on the food offered, but customer reviews tend not to lie en masse. Sure there will be a Karen or two and any place, or write nonsense like “I really liked the food, but here is 1 star review” (and in such cases – bruh, why even bother leaving one??), but if there are 10+ negative reviews – you should absolutely heed those or be brave enough to see for yourself. Any place can have a bad day, but generally speaking – if a bad day in your kitchen leads you to a slop so big you flop, it’s not in the stars for you to be a restaurant. I see lots of places fail purely due to the management. If the reviews point almost solely at the food though, it might not be the slopping management then even if that can still be the case that drags the kitchen down severely.

All in all – check what the community says about places, and avoid Yelp like a wildfire it is since they harass us businesses like there is no tomorrow to buy into their shitty advertising plans we honestly don’t even need!
