Fish Market Restaurant, Alexandria VA – Story

One of my favorite spots in old town Alexandria with a hilarious backstory to boot! So when I got assigned this one, a corpo rep personally reached out to me and begged me not to screw this one up since apparently it happened already and the restaurant wasn’t too confident in the underpaid workforce this goober deliver service ran, and for all the right reasons. I’ve already had to fix several shoots for them at this point, and that just painted an overall sloppy picture of the “hiring” process by a third party we all ran around like headless chickens for. During the early days, there was a neat tidbit available to us like access to the box folder of the entire corpo, so it was pretty easy to peep the peers as well as what some places had in terms of footage already – I did just that for this one.

Oh the hilarity and horror from the restaurant’s perspective once I found what they had to run their deliveries with…. Imagine having next-to-the-worst phone of 2017 and trying to take any picture without a flash, in a moody dim indoor dining area after sunset. And someone got paid to deliver that absolute excuse for work! Honestly, the entirety of how these corpo shenanigans ran always bothered me with the fact that pretty much no one but the client gave even a slightest damn about the actual quality of the work. As I mentioned before, I had to fix other people’s atrocities, now realizing that screwing up never meant not getting paid and that irked me beyond belief. The best part – it’s even worse these days.

As you have seen though, I did this superb and classic restaurant the justice they deserved and stayed to enjoy some of the props and the happy hour after.
