Eattini was quite the Friday night story of a shoot and I loved the place ever since whenever I was in town afterwards. I had a virtual tour to shoot in the typical farm boonies of MD with the only way in or out via a 2 lane back road, so you can already guess what that could mean with the word “Friday” thrown into a sentence…
I get a call close the the appointment time – it’s the restaurant wondering how far I am.
“At least an hour at best,” I tell them, and get the very unusual reply that ALL of the dishes are ready and waiting for me. I tell them that I’m very surprised they stuck to the schedule and the guidelines to have everything ready prior to the shoot, but there’s little I can do about slow farming equipment and other Maryland morons in their vehicles slogging along like it’s Monday morning and they would rather be anywhere but at work. I do my best and make my way up to Ellicott City.
Upon my arrival – food is still there, and after an apology and showing the owner where I had come from – we just got on with the shoot. Dishes still looked prime even after hanging out for happy hour for an hour. As usual, I wrapped things up in T-minus 5 or so minutes and decided to shoot the shit with the staff and stay on for the happy hour not to even have to think about the traffic back from them.
Pretty memorable day vastly contrary to what that usually meant. Now, their little plaza also houses Over Rice, Honey Pig, Hot Pot Hero, Kyoto Matcha’s second location, and Glory Days Grill across a little street (most of which I’ve shot at their other locations!).
